The decor. Beautiful
The atmosphere. Great.
The food.....The very best. try it for yourself.

The biggest variety of Mezza plates I have seen in Lebanon. You are literally Flooded.

It is a set menu and boy is it a mouthful. It is sooo hard to pace yourself through the courses to get the main meal but is well worth it if you can.

The meat and Chicken are scrumptious. And the desserts are outstanding. I recommend the Em Ali highly.

Upstairs has no live entertainment although you can hear the band downstairs through the sound system.

The staff are professional and clean cut.

Also may I mention the kitchen and bathrooms are both squeaky clean......I checked

The wedding was a complete success and I couldn't think of a more perfect location for a 50 person winter wedding.

Thanks Em Sherif and Mr. N.

“Wow, how much food can you eat!”

Reviewed October 2016

The restaurant itself is lovely, it has great atmosphere and is decorated to make it feel homely and also cosy. There is nothing worse than a blank canvas in a restaurant, especially when the food is so colourful.
Onto the food. Go Hungry, there is lots, I think we had some 42 different dishes. First round is like the vegetarian course, then comes a meat course and then a desert course, bare in mind that the first two courses consist of about 16/16 different each! Small amounts from each dish is suggested, otherwise you just won't get round to tasting them all. In the main I really enjoyed the vast majority of dishes the ones I wasn't keen on only contained ingredients I didn't like, so nothing down to the actual dish itself, for example, I really don't like olives, so dishes with olives in wasn't for me.
They do tell you what each dish is, but they said things so quickly that we couldn't quite understand, but we are English, so I didn't expect to understand all of them. The only thing I would say, is that it might have been nice if they could have taken their time to explain it to us, we did after all look very English. Service was very good in the main. Took a long time to get the bill, but they were packed.
Be warned, if you don't like smokers at meal time, this is not the place for you, as all the locals not only seem to smoke, but are also into having shisha at meal times. It was a little overwhelming if I'm honest, as neither of us smoke.
All in all it is very much worth a visit and you must book. For true authentic food, this is the place to go.

Try the set menu and try hard not to ask for second serving -hard to do but must restrict your urges- as the menu is very long and each new dish being served is tastier than the one before it. Should you feel stuffed before the main dishes are served then don't feel bad as you join the club.

The charm of this restaurant starts from the moment the front door is opened before you. The arabesque décor, along with the authentic Arabic music well set you on the road of desires and temptation to fill your tummy with the ingeniously modernized and improved Lebanese mezza and famous main dishes.

As our drinks were ordered, carefully prepared small plates started to arrive to the table. Oh, I thought, the chef's amuse bouche. But no it kept on coming. We were five. And all of a sudden a deluge of deliciously prepared dishes flooded our mirrored top table. We have not seen the menu nor ordered anything. "It is the set menu, sir" after I inquired.

All very delicious, generous, appetizing, well presented and efficiently served.

The variety of the desserts, exquisite. What an amazing experience on all levels.

This is one of a very trendy, classy, Lebanese restaurant in Beirut in Sodeco (Achrafieh) area. It is an old house that turned out to be a restaurant. It is not big, accordingly you need to book a head of time (minimum before a week) in order to find a table there.

They don't have a menu, as you pay around $60 that includes every item in the restaurant. They will start with salads and cold appetizers, then hot appetizers and starters, them main courses, then sweets. Any drinks will be added to the check.

Service, table wares, accessories, and decoration are marvelous.

The food is very delicious as you must ensure you didn't eat anything that day to be able to taste every dish they serve.

I recommend this restaurant to any one who's visiting Beirut and definitely I will return back.

An enormous and magnificent array of dishes, that seemingly never end. Not long after you sit the first dish arrives, then it is a never ending convoy of food. I did not see a menu, but if you look on the website, it is clear that it is a set lunch with something in the region of 30 dishes. At $40 per head it was not for those on a budget, but a great meal nevertheless. The most distressing aspect is the scale of the waste that is incurred, even when there were five people at our table. Not a place seemingly to go on your own, as I doubt any individual could make even the smallest dent in the food supplied.

The whole scene was something like a cross between Casablanca and Indiana Jones with the waiters (black tie jackets with traditional baggy black trousers) hefting aloft trays of Lebanese delights in the mock Ottoman decor. The menu is set and the waiters bring bowl after mouthwatering bowl of delicious food. I loved the perfect the Kibbeh, the aromatic mini sausages the tender chicken livers. just one warning: pace yourself, there are a lot of dishes to sample! It is similar to other Lebanese restaurants in the categories of meals served, but it differs otherwise!
The place is antique and luxurious .. They serve fresh hot and cold dishes, thanks to the beautiful oven seen in the lobby.
The unique characters are:
-The way they serve the dishes, as they just come every minute to serve you a chunk from a dish, starting from great variety of salads and starters even freshly hot pastries, main dish chunks, ending with desserts. They serve you every single bite! This way you will have a bite after another presented to you rather than serving your self, unless you decided to do so as they will put some dishes on the table. Some may feel irritated for being served every minutes and feels somewhat stressed to wait for whats next every minute! But I think that even this tingling feeling is interestingly unique!
-High quality recipes with fine delicious and somewhat innovative taste and look.

I ordered lemon-mint drink but it was too sweet and not cold.

Smoking indoor is allowed and shisha (hubble-bubble) can be ordered.

Great service

I recommend it.

We went there for dinner with very high expectations, and they didn't failed us at all!

The food was heavenly delicious, the way they served it and presented it was beautiful and remarkable. their set menu was very rich and has almost every single Lebanese mese dish (cold, hot, BBQ, pastry) also the homemade-like main dish was perfect and the very generous assorted desserts and fruits as well.

The service was also luxurious, their well-trained staff succeed to amaze us with their friendly attitude, serving skills and speed.

The environment was also very cosy and nice, the music was not loud and the live instruments playing band and singer was great added value to the nice ambiance (except when he sang for fairuz :) ).

We paid around $65 per person a as flat rate, and believe me for the food was served it's well deserved money and not expensive at all.

In general, we had great night and Em Sherif became the best Lebanese restaurant we ever visit so far (we tried a lot of Lebanese restaurants all over the globe). it's simply a must try and looking forward to visit them again next time I'm in Beirut.

Located in an old Beirutine house beautifully restored and augmented with whimsical objects. Em Sharif is not a la carte but has a set menu for a fixed price where they make sure to stuff you beyond what a human can or should normally take. The onslaught of platters does not stop until we begged the waiter and raised the white flag. However, the quantities do not replace the quality as the dishes served were tasteful and delicious. You will need to make a reservation way in advance and if you were lucky enough to find a place then you would just sit, let them serve you the set menu they have, enjoy the wonderful taste of every single dish served and then tell them to stop when you are full and can't take anything more. The dishes are mostly typical but they are made in a way to give them unique and different taste. The touches of the long time owner are evident in the tasty well made dishes and in the consistent quality in the two times I went there over few months. “Excellent food in a great atmosphere”

Reviewed June 21, 2015

I came here with my family who visited me in Lebanon on my birthday and I think this was the most exquisite birthday dinner, I ever had the chance to experience.
The taste, quality and variety of the traditional Lebanese food is simply outstanding.
When we arrived we were promptly attended and guided to our reserved table. The service was prompt and polite, as you can expect from such a fine-dining place.
The restaurant doesn't have a menu but the waiters simply start serving you food. First they served us some bread and salad, followed by cold mezze, hot mezze and dessert. The food is served on big plates which are shared with the whole table. There is something for everybody even if you have dietary restrictions (veggie, vegan, lactose, celiac disease, peanuts, seafood etc.). So no need to worry or request a 'special meal'. The food included all the classics, such as hummus, muhammara, mutabal, shish taouk, grape leaves, tabbouleh, kibbeh and much more. The food is served in abundance and we could always ask for seconds in case we finished a plate. Though this was definitely not needed because food was served in abundance!!! In addition to the delicious food, they also have a fine selection of Lebanese wine and Shisha of course.
To round of the atmosphere, they had a band perform live throughout the evening.
The restaurant definitely is pricey but totally worth its money for a special occasion or the finale of your Lebanon trip.

Tips:
- Make sure to come hungry, as you will want to be able to try all the plates that they offer.
- Be aware, that there is more food to come. So don't fill yourself up with the cold mezze already and definitely leave some for the dessert.
- Booking is essential. It is best to call a few days in advance.
- It is better to come a bit later in the evening, since the band only starts playing relatively late and you will want to enjoy their music.
- Plan enough time for your dinner and don't expect to go somewhere else afterwards as you most likely will be stuffed.

It offers a set menu from the lebanese/aleppan cuisine from mezze to main dishes to desserts. The innovation is in the mix between the two cuisines, in the revisitation of some dishes like the fattouch (where they replaced the fried bread with fried eggplant which gives a new kick to the dish) or the katayef with ice cream and finally in reviving some forgotten desserts like remmenieh (sweet pomegranate in a starch based preparation) and laymounieh (orange juice cooked with starch and sugar). The most amazing thing in the restaurant is the service and the personal attention of the owner herself to details , she is really involved in every aspect , the food ,the presentation , the decor , the ambiance ... in my opinion this is the recipe for success.

The ambience was lovely, and the service was excellent, and professional.

The average per person per head came to around US$90, including alcohol. Good value for money, for the quality, quantity, and high standard that was offered.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

“That was different”

Reviewed September 18, 2014

Most of the Lebanese restaurants across Beirut are pretty much the same, this one was different, the atmosphere was really nice, we were a big group , we used the 2nd floor, we could hear some live music downstairs, the quantity and " quality of food " was superb, the variety was enormous , never knew that they had these types of appetizers before . i ruined my diet with no regret , but frankly it was too much that i had to say no for so many things. The difference in service was that they individually offer you mezza, so for the warmhearted, it was not easy to say no.

“One of the best, if not the best Lebanese restaurants around”

Reviewed August 25, 2014

We were around 28 people, so it was a big group. The service was still top notch, the food came in fast and was really amazing. There was also a small local band singing to some popular arabic tunes. It was really a perfect experience, i recommend anyone to visit Em Sherif when looking for the perfect lebanese cuisine experience.

At Em Sherif, get ready to indulge yourself. It's a cozy middle eastern restaurant with traditional Lebanese food. There is no menu, food just keeps coming your way & each dish is better than the other! The service is great & prices are reasonable compared to the amount of food & service you get! I always make sure to pop in each time am in Beirut. Reservations are a must.

“Excellent Experience”

At Em Sherif I had an exquisit combination of food, entertainment and service in a luxurious settings. We enjoyed our time, we got a perfect service, food was all good from the cold mezzé to the final desert. On top of all that, we had a 3 performer band that added the magic to the dinner. And guess what...it not that expensive, with a US$60 per person it is a great value.
A must visit in Lebanon and probably the best place i visited during my annual visits to Lebanon.
one advice, go with a group of 4 or more, because there is a lot of food to eat off your mirror table.

Brace your taste buds for an onslaught of the most exciting Lebanese food you will ever have, at a venue that would suit both a romantic or business dinner. My advice, have the meze and let your mind enjoy the variety of flavours and smells. One word of caution, don't eat for a week as you will be greated by over 20 dishes. A pure joy

The most refined middle eastern cuisine, ever.

All the classics, embellished with fresh herbs and original presentation and spicing.

The tartare was mouthwatering, the fatoosh salad sublime. Desserts, five of them!, out of this world.
